Do this now
Write a list of five things completely unrelated to your project — a material, a ritual, a feeling, a sport, a natural phenomenon. Pick one and force a connection to your brief. Sketch what that combination could look like. Don't filter it yet.
Unpack
Unexpected connections work because they bring in logic, texture, or emotion from somewhere your audience didn't expect. Random mashups go nowhere. Purposeful collisions create new meaning. The test is whether the connection adds something neither idea had alone.
Draw it.
Fast and messy is better than perfect.
