02 — Define the problem
Describing what you'll make is not the same as understanding what's wrong.
"Describing what you'll make is not the same as understanding what's wrong."
Do this now
Write one sentence: "This project addresses [problem] for [audience]." If you can't finish it clearly, you're not ready to design yet. A real problem has a gap — something between where things are now and where they need to be.
Unpack
The problem and the solution are not the same thing. Starting with a solution is starting blind. The narrower and more specific your problem, the more useful your design decisions become. Vague language produces vague work — every word in your problem statement should earn its place.
Draw it.
Fast and messy is better than perfect.
