01 — Define success
If you didn't define what success looked like before you started, you'll just decide whatever you made was the goal.
"If you didn't define what success looked like before you started, you'll just decide whatever you made was the goal."
Do this now
Write three specific success criteria for your project — not 'it looks good' but what the audience should understand, feel, or do. Check your final outcome against each one honestly. If it doesn't meet them, that's useful information, not failure.
Unpack
Success defined only by aesthetics is the easiest kind to fake. A design can be beautiful and do nothing. Real success belongs to the audience — it's measured by what changes for them. Include at least one criterion related to responsibility or impact. Set the criteria before you design, not after.
Draw it.
Fast and messy is better than perfect.
